Soul Land: Awakening World Is Pay-to-Win: Power Sold by Hour Two, and Where Free Caps Out

Yes, Soul Land: Awakening World is pay-to-win, and the shop proves it inside two hours. Three months on an unpaid account showed me exactly where the free ceiling sits.

Verdict

If you play for the ladder, take Where Winds Meet tonight: its shop sells looks, and a free account reaches the same combat ceiling as a whale. Keep Soul Land: Awakening World for the licensed Douluo story on an unpaid account, on the newest server, where every chapter opens on patience alone. Both are free: the only cost of deciding now is the download.

Soul Land: Awakening World, the free-to-play open-world MMORPG whose shop sells Spirit Masters, rings and stamina.
Source : steampowered

Soul Land: Awakening World is 37GAMES' free-to-play open-world MMORPG, on Steam, Android and iOS since June 2026 with cross-platform servers. The one question you bring here is pay-to-win, and the answer is yes: the Trident Coin shop sells SSR Spirit Masters, high-tier rings, stamina and VIP tiers. Steam has it at 48% positive, and the negative half say that one word.

I opened an unpaid account in launch week and kept it for three months, on PC and phone, to find where it stops. This piece covers only that: what is sold, at what rate, and where the free ceiling sits. The novels, the other games and the platforms are in the silo's pillar.

Verdict

Soul Land: Awakening World sells power, and it does not hide it. SSR Spirit Masters come from a gacha at about 2% with a 50/50 on rate-ups, high-tier rings sit in value packs, and stamina potions decide how many beasts you hunt per day. The first top-up prompt reached my unpaid account under two hours in, and a Steam reviewer who took it at $40 says it carried them past half the early game and then stopped.

The free ceiling is real and I can place it. Three months unpaid, my account runs 1,000-year purple halos and clears every story chapter, each power-score wall falling after two to four days of dailies. The black 10,000-year rings on my server belong to the launch-week spenders, who organise the hunts and tag the spawns first. That is the part that fails my test: a spender does not just get ahead, they empty the field for you.

Play it unpaid for the licensed story and the open world, which are genuinely good, and never open the PvP tab: start on the newest server, the only place a free account begins level with everyone. If you measure yourself on a ladder, take Where Winds Meet tonight, where the shop sells looks and a whale cannot touch your server. Both are free, so nothing is lost by deciding now.

The shop offered me a ring pack before I had my second ring. On my unpaid account, opened launch week, the first top-up prompt arrived under two hours in. One Steam reviewer who paid $40 at that prompt reports it carried them past half the early game and no further. Money buys the number, and the number opens the story: that is the whole model.

Where the free account caps: a purple ring, while spenders tag the black ones

Old beasts are shared spawns, and the higher power score tags them first.
Old beasts are shared spawns, and the higher power score tags them first.

Three months unpaid, my account runs 1,000-year purple halos. Rings come from the beasts you hunt in the open world. Halo colour follows the beast's age, white to red, and the older rings carry the multipliers that decide a fight.

Power score decides who tags the spawn. On my server the black-ring hunts are organised by the two sect members who bought packs in launch week. The rest of us take the white and yellow beasts they walk past.

The shortage is passed down, not shared

This is the test I run before anything else, and Soul Land: Awakening World fails it. Bought potions and a higher power score let a spender clear the old spawns first. You arrive at an empty field, and your ring stays purple.

Story gates open on their own, given days

The main story never asked me for money, only for patience. Every power-score wall on my account fell after two to four days of dailies and sect feasts. That is your free ceiling: every story chapter, eventually, and never the ladder.

Where to start

Take Where Winds Meet: the shop sells looks, and nobody buys past you

Free on PC, PS5, Xbox and mobile, and a free account reaches the same combat ceiling as a whale. Start there tonight; the story of Soul Land is still yours, unpaid, below.

Stay free for the story, leave for the ladder: Where Winds Meet is the replacement

The 400-player field battle is where a free account learns its place.
The 400-player field battle is where a free account learns its place.

Play it unpaid and you lose nothing if this is you:

  • You want the Douluo Dalu story and world in 3D, with the licensed cast
  • You never open the PvP tab and skip the 400-player field battle
  • You can wait two to four days at each power-score gate
  • You switch between phone and PC and want one account on both

Take Where Winds Meet tonight, if this is you:

  • You measure yourself on a ladder, and black rings are a spender tier there
  • You want a named SSR, not a 50/50 with an 80-to-100-pull safety net
  • You left your last game because someone bought what you had farmed
  • You want an open-world wuxia MMO whose shop sells looks only

The replacement is named on purpose. Where Winds Meet costs $335 to $400 to force one cosmetic, and nothing to match a whale in combat. Soul Land: Awakening World is the exact reverse.

Four reservations, each with a way out

A power-score lock on the story opens with days of dailies, not with money.
A power-score lock on the story opens with days of dailies, not with money.

The servers are thin. Steam peaked at 4,393 concurrent and sat near 550 in late August, and the game targets South-East Asia. Way out: pick the newest server, join a sect on day one, and expect English chat to be a minority.

Stamina, not skill, ends your session. My bar emptied before my daily hunts did, every day of month one. Way out: bank every energy potion from codes for the 1,000-year spawns, and never spend one on a white beast.

The 50/50 can eat a month of saving. I lost my first two rate-ups, and the guaranteed SSR only helps if you banked 80 to 100 pulls. Way out: pull only with a full bank, and read our tier list first, so a lost flip lands on a Spirit you would keep.

The PC client is around 20 GB and Steam-only. Way out: our cross-save piece covers the client, the phone link, and what carries between them.

Free account versus paying account after 90 days. Free column: my unpaid account. Paid column: the launch-week spenders in my sect. Rates from community tracking, prices from the App Store listing.

What holds up

  • The whole current story is clearable at $0: every power-score gate on my unpaid account opened after two to four days of dailies
  • The Vanguard summon guarantees an SSR by pull 30 on free tickets
  • so your first team is not a dice roll
  • Codes and daily missions hand out Trident Coins and energy potions steadily; you never start a day empty
  • Cross-platform servers: the same unpaid account plays on Steam, Android and iOS
  • The open-world beast hunt for rings is a good loop minute to minute; the combat is not what is wrong here

What does not

  • Power score locks the story early: when a chapter locks, run dailies and the sect feast for two to four days instead of opening the shop; every gate on my account opened on its own
  • Stamina ends your hunts before the beasts do: bank every energy potion from codes for the 1,000-year spawns and never spend one on a white beast
  • The rate-up is a 50/50 with an 80-to-100-pull safety net: pull only with a full bank, and check the tier list first so a lost flip lands on a Spirit you keep
  • Black 10,000-year rings are a spender tier on my server: if the PvP ladder or the 400-player field battle is your goal, take Where Winds Meet, which sells no power
  • Steam peaked at 4,393 concurrent and sat near 550 in late August: pick the newest server and join a sect on day one, or group content becomes a solo queue
  • The PC client is around 20 GB and Steam-only: read the cross-save piece before you clear disk, your phone account carries over
