The short version
A cookie is a small file placed on your device. Some make the site work, the others do not — and those are only placed with your agreement.
Three categories
- Necessary — they remember your choice. They cannot be turned off and do nothing else.
- Audience measurement — understanding what gets read. With your agreement.
- Advertising — funding the site. With your agreement.

Changing your mind
The Cookie preferences link in the footer, at any time. Withdrawing your agreement applies from then on, not to what has already been collected.
You can also block cookies from your browser settings — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. Blocking everything can degrade the site.
